In a business-focused organization like DECA, you can expect money to play an essential role in the competitive events. Whether it be balancing budgets, managing investment portfolios, funding marketing campaigns, or understanding financial management, experienced competitors have definitely run into problems that require a keen perception into the function of money. As a result, members spend countless hours learning the applications of money in the business world in order to master its use in competition. But why just worry about virtual money when you can get the real thing?
Through the DECA scholarship program, high school and collegiate members are given over $300,000 in merit-based scholarships at ICDC every year. Our wonderful corporate partners support the sponsorship program with generous donations every year.
The Corporate Scholarship Program involves scholarships that are based on guidelines set by the respective corporate partners. Awards are given for demonstrated interest in a wide range of disciplines, such as entrepreneurship, leadership, hospitality, automotive industry, technology, and corporate associations. Ranging from $1,000 to $2,000, these scholarships exemplify the importance of our corporate sponsors and their close ties with our organization. Included in the Corporate Scholarship Program are the:
Don DeBolt Scholarships (International Franchise Association)
Marriott International Scholarships
NAPA Auto Parts Scholarships
National Technical Honor Society Scholarships
Otis Spunkmeyer Scholarships
In addition, the Harry Applegate Scholarship Program is a scholarship fund that receives contribution from corporate supporters. Selection for these scholarships are determined by “DECA involvement, leadership ability, community service and academic performance.” Every year, dozens of these prizes are awarded to aid DECA members in continuing their education at the collegiate/university level. These scholarships reward our deserving members for all of the hard work that they pour into the classroom, their school, their community, and, of course, DECA!
So please remember, DECA does not only teach about money; it gives it out too! Please take advantage of these amazing opportunities. Apply by January 18, 2019 to qualify for the variety of scholarships that DECA has to offer. https://www.deca.org/high-school-programs/scholarships/
