Oregon DECA relies on the support of business volunteers each day who serve and become role-models to future leaders. There are many ways you can get involved. Here are some of the areas where we need help:

Serve on a Committee

You may serve on one of Oregon DECA's many committees. Committee members help plan events, offer ideas for improvement and pool their resources with other members to make DECA better than ever.

Become a Corporate Sponsor

Sponsors provide scholarships, people support, in-kind donations and more. As Oregon DECA continues to grow as an organization, so does our list of corporate sponsors.

Become a Conference Judge

Business Judges are needed for district, state and international career development conferences. This is a great way to get involved and make a "diference" working with our students.

Chapter Fundraising

Oregon DECA's high school chapters finance most of their activities through fundraisers.  Most chapters use the fundraising activity as a learning experience, organizing the students into teams, selecting products or services, identifying responsibility, and reporting on results.  Chapters are continuously searching for new and innovative fundraising programs. Oregon DECA is a great market for businesses that seek to offer fundraising programs in high schools.

College Recruitment

Oregon's DECA members are highly motivated, results oriented students with strong academic credentials; this is the type of student that colleges and post-secondary institutions want.  Many colleges have found DECA to be a great recruiting resource.  A recent study found that 86% of graduating DECA members plan on attending college.  Typical DECA members have the work experience and community services as part of their DECA experience.

Employment Opportunities

One of DECA's most successful tools for creating local linkages is the Employment Partnership Program.  The components of this program combine the promotion of your company and/or products to young people and assist with the recruitment of DECA members for appropriate jobs withing your organization.  Each component of the program serves to reinforce both concepts while building strong, effective, local partnerships between store managers and local DECA advisors.

School-Based Enterprises

School-based enterprises (SBEs) are effective tools that are used to help prepare students for the transition from school to work.  For many students, these school stores provide the first work experience; for others, they provide and opportunity to build management, supervision and leadership skills.  While some in the education community have only recently discovered the value of school-based enterprises, marketing educators and DECA advisors have used them as a powerful teaching tool for more than four decades.

Scholarships

Scholarships are often times a great motivator for a student to decide to attend college.  DECA's scholarship program provides about a quarter of a million dollars each year.  More than 50 corporations provide scholarships through the DECA Scholarship Program.  DECA, Inc. administers the program based on guidelines set by the donor and freeing the company from any potential compensation issues.

Exhibition

DECA's premier educational offering is its Competitive Events Program.  Each year, more than 125,000 DECA members participate in these competitions at the local, state, regional, and international conferences.  Exhibiting at DECA's conferences allow you the opportunity to meet chapter leaders and advisors, build your name recognition and promote your products and services.

Oregon DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management by enhancing their classroom experiences through educational andleadership development activities. Through its comprehensive learning program, DECA integrates classroom instruction, applies learning, connects to business, and promotes competition. 

DECA’s competitive events directly contribute to every student being college and career ready when they graduate from high school.  Our unique, industry-validated, competitive events are aligned with current National Curriculum Standards in the career clusters of marketing, businessmanagement and administration, finance, and hospitality and tourism. Students represent their chapters at our annual conference and are evaluated by both a writtencomponent (exam or report) and an interactive component with an industry professional serving as a judge.

Oregon DECA’s goal is to provide travel awards to all first place winners at our State Career Development Conference. This prize will assist students in covering the costs associated with attending the International Career Development Conference.  Competitive Event Sponsorship starts at $100 for individual events and $150 for team or written events.  Contributors may request to sponsor a specific event, or give a general donation that will be matched to an open event. 

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all contributions are tax deductible. Oregon DECA relies on member participation and private contributions to provide programs and opportunities for members.

Competitive Event Sponsors receive the following benefits:

• Recognition in the Conference Program as the Competitive Event Sponsor.  Our Conference Program is distributed to all conference attendees and used as a promotional tool for future partnership development efforts
• On-screen recognition during the Awards of Excellence Session as the Competitive Event Sponsor in front of all general session attendees and guests
• Recognition on the Oregon DECA Web site as a Competitive Event Sponsor
• The opportunity to personally present awards in the sponsored event
• The knowledge that 100% of your competitive event sponsorship dollars are awarded directly to members – no amount is withheld for overhead or operations.

DECA produces many exciting conferences every year--for both our teacher-advisors and our student-members.  Within our membership, these conferences build excitement for learning more about marketing, management, and entrepreneurship -- a for pursuing career pathways in these subjects.
