Muscles are an essential part of your body. They help you move, walk, talk, smile, and much more. Unfortunately, there are muscle disorders that prevent some people from being able to perform even every day tasks. These muscle disorders are grouped together as Muscular Dystrophy.
DECA believes it is our social responsibility to help others in whatever way we can. That is why DECA is a national partner of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a nonprofit dedicated to helping find treatments and cures for muscles disorders. The MDA also helps provide support to people suffering from muscular dystrophy by providing summer camps, clinics, and connecting families to caregivers.
During our state conference, Oregon DECA holds a dash for cash, where a selection of DECA members run around with buckets collecting change from all the Oregon DECA members. All proceeds raised that night go directly to the MDA.
If you are attending SCDC in February, remember to bring some cash or spare change to the recognition night to donate to the MDA and to help make a difference.
You can learn more about Muscular Dystrophy by checking out The Muscular Dystrophy Association’s website at www.MDA.org.
