Oregon DECA + Oregon Diploma

Oregon DECA is an essential vehicle for helping students meet Oregon’s tough graduation requirements and challenging academic standards.  DECA is co-curricular, integrated into marketing education curriculum and for students interested in marketing, management and entrepreneurship.  Through their involvement in this Career and Technical Student Organization, one of seven in Oregon, students are able to directly apply what they are learning in the classroom to real world situations. Additionally they have the opportunity to interact with business leaders and to serve their local communities.

By 2012, there will be changes to two of the components, which are outlined in Essential Skills and Career-Related Learning Standards Alignment and Transitions.

The Impact of Career and Technical Education in Oregon
In 2007-2008, the Klamath Union DECA Chapter conducted research on Career and Technical Education and wrote a Creative Marketing Project written event, one of the Chapter Team Events and DECA’s 37 competitive events.  The authors, Jessica Chan and Justin Claypool, placed first with this written event at SCDC 2008 and went onto to compete at ICDC 2008.
