ICDC 2014

225 Oregon DECA members truly discovered what it means to “Make It Count.” Joining 16,000 other students from around the world, Oregon DECA members travelled to Atlanta, Georgia for the International Career Development Conference. In addition to having the opportunity to compete with DECA’s very best, members had the opportunity to sight see and explore everything that Atlanta had to offer.

While in Atlanta, Oregon DECA members were able to visit Six Flags Over Georgia, the amazing Coke World, explore one of the world’s largest aquariums, experience a Braves vs. Giants game, and even attend a private concert just for DECA members! When they weren’t out experiencing the city and its multitude of attractions, Oregon DECA members took to the Georgia World Congress Center for competition.

Oregon DECA’s time at ICDC was a huge success! First, the new 2014-2015 Oregon DECA State Officer Team was able to meet members for the first time since being elected at the 2014 State Career Development Conference. Also, ICDC allowed for Oregon members to connect and network with students from all around the world. But let’s not forget that Oregon DECA took two trophies and some top 10 medals home from Atlanta! Congratulations to:

  • Mason Fessler of Blanchet Catholic for a top 10 finish in Apparel and Accessories Marketing
  • Janelle Bond from North Medford who placed in the Top 10 for Hotel and Lodging Management Series
  • Landon Rufener and Parker Brockway from Sabin Schellenberg Center who placed in the Top 10 for Virtual Business Challenge
  •  Avinash Vemuri of Westview High School 2nd in Principles of Marketing
  • Emily Huang of Westview High School for 3rd place in Business Services Management Series

Your hard work definitely paid off! Congratulations also to all of the competitors representing Oregon DECA at ICDC! This was a very successful year for Oregon DECA and we are expecting this next year, Oregon DECA’s 60th year, to be the best yet!
