District Skills Competition - Success in the Dark!

This past weekend over 150 DECA members from around the state attended the District Skills competition hosted by Cascade High School. The day consisted of testing and role-plays where members were able to fine-tune their skills for the upcoming State Career Development Conference. The competition also exposed new members to what DECA competition looks like. Members pushed through a power outage from a storm the night before, and spent over half of their day competing in the dark. Talk about some DECA-dedicated students!

Despite the power outage, the event was high successful and many members found it beneficial. “It was a great first experience” said Jessi, a first year member from Woodburn High School.

Oregon DECA would like to give a big thank you to District two Vice President Bailey Boaz for planning the event, Cascade Chapter President Bodie Christ and Cascade Advisor Mr. Reinhardt for hosting, and a number of Alumni and local business professionals for their volunteer work and help with judging.
