Amanda has been a DECA member for three years and has been a local chapter officer for two. Amanda enjoys learning as shown by her enrollment in advanced classes. She knows the value of keeping an open mind and always working to be the best you can be. Once Amanda graduates from high school, she plans to continue on to a private university and major in Biology with a minor or duel major in Business Administrations. Then, she plans on attending medical school and becoming a doctor. After graduation, Amanda aims to participate in missionary work abroad and at home as she works, and eventually, she would like to own her own practice.

District II Vice President
Lauro Jimenez, District II Vice President, was born in Puebla, Mexico, but moved to Woodburn, Oregon when he was still an infant. He attended school in Woodburn and became fluent in both English and Spanish. During his sophomore year, Lauro moved to Labelle, Florida and spent the year away from home. Lauro now attends the Wellness, Business and Sports School at the Woodburn High School Campus. Lauro likes to play basketball with his friends, play video games, catch all the latest sports highlights, and relax at home with his family.
At the beginning of his junior year, back from Florida, Lauro decided that he wanted to get more involved in school. Then, when in his business class his teacher, who was also the DECA advisor, told him about DECA. He decided he could not pass up this organization, and decided to join. Lauro, always interested in business, had a very good time attending chapter meetings and events and decided he wanted to get further involved in DECA. He attended a District II competition and was inspired to lead. This led him to decide that he wanted to become an Oregon DECA State Officer.
What Lauro brings to the state officer team is hard work, honesty, reliability and someone who wants to learn and pass on his knowledge to others. Lauro is honored to serve as District II Vice President and is excited to get started. Lauro’s plan for District II this year are to give back to our communities, and get more schools and students involved in DECA and ultimately have them all at SCDC. He believes every high school student should experience the great things DECA offers its members.
